The Clone Wars Season Three Overall

This season was a very ODD season. For any of you that followed this season, you’re probably not surprised that the second half of the season was much better than the first half. This season should’ve been called Rise of the Politics because of its constant political intrigue that makes you wonder if you’re even watching Star Wars at all! The second half brought out the elements Star Wars is supposed to have. The Jedi, the Sith, the Expanded Universe secrets never revealed (on screen), and Chewbacca. It all made the first half really lame, notably Corruption and Supply Lines. Those two were awful.

But on to the second half. The season continued with an amazing trilogy of episodes about Darth Maul’s brother. I didn’t really care about Ventress and the Nightsisters, I just liked Savage Opress and the Zabraks. Then came a pretty trippy, interesting trilogy known as the Mortis trilogy. I had very mixed feelings for that one. Altar of Mortis was great, Ghosts of Mortis was good, and Overlords was okay. Overlords, though I liked the reappearance of Qui-Gon, weirded me out a bit, and the Altar of Mortis kind of lightened up a little bit. I loved Altar of Mortis because it had some great battles and good biblical truths that I could think of (notably from Ephesians 2).

The Citadel trilogy was good, but besides Tarkin, this trilogy seemed more of an enlightenment for the little kids that the clones are still a part of this series. The season finale was great and just had an amazing storyline. The ending made us feel very good and made me look back and think, wow, this was a pretty emotional season. The characters are blowing me away. I used to not like Ahsoka, but ever since Heroes On Both Sides, I’ve been starting to like her character. It’s maturing for sure.

This season probably won the “Most EU Errors” award according to a lot of frustrated fans of the Expanded Universe. I’M not a big EU reader so I don’t exactly notice much, and when I do find out, hey, George Lucas is behind this project too, so whatever is getting sent to the screen he probably doesn’t mind. Yeah, they changed Darth Maul’s origins such as where he was born and they even did a little cover-up but that’s George’s vision so I’m willing to let that go. Then there’s the thing about Qui-Gon, but it’s possible that Mortis IS the netherworld of the Force that Yoda was talking about in Revenge of the Sith. So actually I think this element enhanced the story instead of making a continuity error. When Obi-Wan is surprised, it could possibly be remembering his experience on Mortis but now Qui-Gon is out of it and now he could talk to him anywhere.

That being said, Wookie Hunt was the best episode with Altar of Mortis second in line, and Corruption was the worst episode (you could see why in my review in the reviews pages for Season Three).  3.8/5 stars for this season.

The Clone Wars Season Two Overall

I thought this season was better than the first season! There, I’ll just go right out and say it. This season had so much packed into one. They showed a Jedi Holocron, went back to Geonosis, introduced Deathwatch and Mandalore, introduced the Zillo Beast, and brought back Boba Fett!

Favorite Episode: I had the same thing with this season as I had with Season One.  After watching the season I said The Deserter was my favorite, but now I must say I like Death Trap a lot!  When it was Boba’s turn to take the turret and destroy the debris, I knew he was going to make it, after all he’s Boba Fett!  Anyway, Death Trap is probably my #1 favorite in this season now.  It really captured Boba’s personality and his feelings as a lonely boy seeking revenge against Mace Windu and you see the hurt that he gathers inside him but never wants to bring them to Windu as a guy with hurt feelings but instead decides revenge is best.  It’s a sad story.

Worst Episode: At first I thought that Senate Spy was my least favorite episode because of its pathetic dialogue but now I say Lightsaber Lost is my least favorite.  The characters are poorly done and the bounty hunter that steals Ahsoka’s lightsaber is just pathetic.  They so had a chance to do some cool stuff here like why not use Cad Bane instead?  It’s just confusing to me.  The only part I really liked in this episode was when Tera Sinube pulls his lightsaber out of his cane.  I thought that was pretty cool but that’s pretty much it.

Overall: With that being said, Season Two was a great season because it had so much progress in the story.  We even got to see some dark moments from Anakin and a little pinch of ‘Imperial March’ in the background.  There was also some character development with Ahsoka who I think doesn’t call Anakin ‘Skyguy’ anymore halfway through the season.  I know I may be getting a little ahead here but there are also some strong character moments in Season Three as well.

Sorry the video has really poor quality but you still get the picture.

The Clone Wars Season One Overall

So I found a way where I can post these reviews of the seasons as a whole and you could post comments on them about how YOU liked the season and what your favorite episode was.

So here we go, starting with Season One. In my opinion, this season was one of the most action-heavy seasons but also one of the most boring and my least favorite. I hate to be critical but this season had very little character development and very little progress in the story (much like the Clone Wars film). You could easily take these episodes and make them into ballads if you wanted to.

Favorite Episode: After watching this season, I said Lair of Grievous was my favorite, but now I think it may be Rookies.  Of course, ‘Lair’ and ‘Rookies’ are two very different episodes from each other but Rookies just had a little more heart and a less depressing theme.  Two new characters die in both episodes but Hevy died saving his brothers and his home planet of Kamino while Nahdar Vebb died because of his lust for revenge.  Rookies revealed the possibility of saving lives and Lair of Grievous revealed what could happen if revenge was all you could think about so the deaths were from different causes.  All in all, I would say Rookies is my favorite Season One episode.

Worst Episode: For some reason I would say that Jedi Crash is my least favorite episode.  The space battle at the beginning was great, but the rest was just boring.  The Lurmans were were uninteresting and most of the action toward the end of the episode was brief combat with what I like to call giant eagles that was not suspenseful at all.  Sorry, my case is put.

Overall: With that being said, I give Season One three stars out of five.  A half star is for Ambush, a star and a half is for Lair of Grievous and another star is for Rookies, although I really liked Liberty on Ryloth and The Hidden Enemy.
